Alvida doesn't have access to death records or hospital databases — and we never will. Instead, we watch for a sustained, long absence. We send you a check-in every 30 days. If you miss one or two, nothing happens. If you miss consistently for about 8 months — 15 check-ins in a row — that's when your messages are delivered. A vacation, a busy month, even a hospitalisation won't trigger delivery. The switch is slow by design.
Missing a check-in or two is completely fine — nothing will happen. Your messages are only delivered after 15 consecutive missed check-ins, which takes about 8 months. If you're going through something difficult and can't respond, your account is safe. You can also pause your account from Settings at any time — paused accounts never trigger delivery.

You can update recipient details at any time from your dashboard. We'd recommend revisiting your recipients every year or two — email addresses and relationships change over time. Think of it as keeping your account current.
